Short Essay Questions

Please complete each of the essay questions below. We’re looking to learn more about you and the unique background, skills, characteristics, and values you would bring to our fellowship cohort and the unique value your participation in this program will provide your office and community. Use these essays to help us learn what motivates you to participate in our program and what you hope your office will gain from your participation. (250-500 word count for each)

Tell us about the impact-focused work of your office. What are your office’s goals and priorities in protecting civil rights, advancing justice, or defending local authority in areas such as voting rights, workers’ rights, reproductive rights, or other pressing community issues? What stage is this work at, and what is your role in moving it forward?

What compelled you to apply for the Affirmative Leaders Fellowship program? What would you bring to the Fellowship and what do you and your office hope to gain?
